Kingman Unified School District No. 20 Fifth Grade Bands will start making music soon at Cerbat Elementary School, Desert Willow Elementary School, Hualapai Elementary School & Manzanita Elementary School
Learning to play a musical instrument is fun and exciting,
but also challenging. It takes work and practice to play an instrument. Many students find success and in
creased self-esteem from band participation. Musical experiences enhance a child’s problem-solving skills and connect
with other academic areas. It all starts in fifth grade and marches forward to middle & high school bands.
Fifth grade band students are expected to make a yearlong commitment, attend band class consistently, complete all classroom work successfully, practice their instrument at home, and perform in a few evening concerts. Families may choose to rent an instrument, provide their own beginning band instrument, or request to use a school-provided instrument. Some instruments require minimal cleaning & playing supplies.
